EMDR
Trauma Treatment Using EMDR
Car accidents. Family or community violence. Sexual abuse. Childhood bullying. Traumatic incidents. PTSD.
These experiences can shape how you see yourself and the world around you.
When trauma remains unresolved, your mind can continue to register what happened as dangerous. It works to protect you—even when the danger is long gone.
And sometimes that protection makes your world smaller.
Now, years after the event, you want to trust your new partner enough to experience intimacy. You want to learn to drive. You want to feel comfortable giving a presentation. You don’t want to become defensive when someone talks to you. You want a good night’s sleep.
You want to leave the past behind, as something that happened but no longer rules your life.
This is where EMDR comes in.
EMDR Therapy
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It helps the brain process traumatic experiences so that memories from the past no longer carry the same emotional and psychological charge in the present.
The memory remains. But it doesn’t have to keep hijacking you.
EMDR can be done through telehealth. If you have a computer, headphones, a private space, and a reliable internet connection, we can do this work together from wherever you feel most comfortable.
