Tanisha Sanders

Founder & Clinical Director

Tanisha Sanders is the founder of TRS-Counseling, which she established in 2006 as part of her calling to help others heal and grow. As a Black therapist, Tanisha brings a deep awareness of how cultural identity and intergenerational trauma can impact mental health and overall quality of life.

Her therapeutic approach blends clinical expertise with real-life wisdom, creating a space where therapy feels both effective and relatable. Tanisha is especially mindful of helping clients grow without feeling overwhelmed, offering support that is paced, compassionate, and grounded in each person’s unique experience.

Outside of her clinical work, Tanisha is a budding artist exploring color, line, and form. She is also a mother, a role she describes as the most challenging, transformative, and meaningful experience of her life. Her son has shaped the way she understands care, patience, and resilience, both personally and professionally.

Tanisha is a lifelong (and honest) yoga practitioner, with a deep love for Hatha yoga, which she plans to practice for as long as her body allows. She is also a knitter who rides a brown Vespa, often heading to yoga or an art class with Tupac or Fleetwood Mac playing in the background. Her two dogs, raised from tiny pups, are her constant companions and may occasionally wander into view during a telehealth session.

Tanisha believes in showing up fully and authentically. As her brother says, “You have to love the flavor you are.” She finally does.
