Our Blog

This is where mental health meets real talk. Just like our upcoming podcast “Chair Time with T,” this blog dives into the messy, but necessary conversations about life, healing, and everything in between. Expect a mix of psychoeducation, reflections from my work as a therapist, and my unfiltered take on mental health matters. No jargon, no fluff. Just honest insights to help you think, grow, and maybe even laugh along the way.

Finding Your Peace

Mar 7, 2025 | Therapy Demystified

Let’s be honest—seeking therapy isn’t always an easy decision.

Maybe you’ve been carrying around pain that feels too heavy to examine. Maybe you’re excelling in your professional life but struggling with relationships. Or perhaps you’re simply tired of feeling stuck, knowing you need change but unsure how to make it happen without everything falling apart.
I get it. As a therapist with over 25 years of experience—and as a human being who’s navigated my own journey of growth and change—I understand that real healing requires more than just a listening ear or quick-fix solutions. It requires a space where you can be fully seen, heard, and supported while doing the actual work of transformation.
That’s exactly what we offer at TRS-Counseling.

I’m Tanisha Sanders, and I believe in therapy that goes beyond surface-level coping strategies. My approach combines professional expertise with what our community might call “mother wit”—practical wisdom that comes from real-life experience. I work primarily with ambitious, hardworking professionals who value confidentiality and need a private, secure space to “get their shit together” without judgment.
As an African American therapist, I bring a deep understanding of the historical, cultural, and racial nuances that often weave through our daily challenges. While I work with clients from all backgrounds, I’ve found that members of the BIPOC community particularly appreciate having a therapist who inherently understands their lived experiences.

Here’s what you won’t find at TRS-Counseling:

  • Generic solutions that only scratch the surface
  • The expectation that you should have it all figured out
  • Judgment about where you are in your journey
  • he pressure to rush through your healing process

Instead, you’ll find:

  • A thorough, three-session assessment that helps us understand your needs
  • A therapeutic relationship built on competence, kindness, and genuine connection
  • A balanced approach that honors both your strength and vulnerability
  • A space where you can process your experiences without becoming overwhelmed

My commitment is simple:

Under the Surface: Lately, I’ve noticed something unsettling, not just in my own body, but in the people around me. Friends, colleagues, and even strangers at the store—they’re all complaining of sudden bouts of insomnia, unexplained body aches, and anxiety that seems...
